Sprout Team Goes Global
The Sprout advisory team works hard to bring global agritech knowledge back to New Zealand so we can help others apply it for the future growth of our industry. We intentionally read, research and network so we stay on the forefront of agritech knowledge. Here are two ways we worked to be ahead of our game this month.
This month one of Sprout’s Lead Advisors, Stu Bradbury attended the evokeAg conference in Melbourne. evokeAG is an Asia Pacific agrifood tech event about connecting people who are serious about embracing the practical application of new technologies to solve real problems in the real world.
Farmers, investors, consumers, agrifood tech startups, students, researchers, corporate’s, businesses, accelerators, incubators, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders gathered in one location to see what is happening across the industry and related research in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
“This event was a great opportunity to represent Sprout Accelerator on the global stage and hear from people with a global vision like David Rosenberg, CEO of Aerofarms. Panels spoke about Agriculture 4.0, and we heard from others about ways to reach the Chinese market.”
James Bell-Booth joined a New Zealand delegation to the Netherlands looking at the Netherlands food & primary industries exemplars for innovation.
The delegation was able to visit local universities, a number of vertically integrated growers and development hubs. Along the way James was able to see new ways we can support our startups and build valuable connections that will make strategic partners for Sprout.
“All in all, I have come away thinking New Zealand has a pretty well connected ecosystem and disciplines in entrepreneurship in the food & agritech space and this is something we should be excited by and proud of. The work on area for organisations like ours, is getting our innovators and entrepreneurs more quickly connected to markets outside of NZ.
I have made multiple exciting connections and extended invitations to speak at future events. Watch this space!”
